Revised KFNV Member Services and Services Provided by Local Stores and Restaurants

Updated: Jul 3, 2021

As an update to our last post and in response to the evolving COVID 19 pandemic, we wanted to give you some further information about our services as well as some community information that you can use during this public emergency.

In line with our commitment to providing needed member services but also aware of our responsibility to protect the health of our volunteers who are overwhelmingly in the vulnerable age 60+ population and following guidance from our public health officials, we have limited our activities and services. Specifically, as was noted in our previous email, we have cancelled all of our in- person events through April 1, 2020. In addition, during this emergency we will no longer be able to offer members rides to appointments. However, as was noted in our previous email, we will still offer our friendly phone calls, including help in registering for on-line grocery and pharmacy delivery services. Finally, we are happy to announce a member service that will enable us to pick up and deliver to members’ homes pre-paid prescriptions and groceries from Safeway at King Farm and Safeway at Falls Grove, respectively. (Please see below for specific information.)

Because we know information is important in this troubling time, please see the following websites for general information and safety tips: Rockville Villages website at: https://www.rockvillemd.gov/2008/Villages and Montgomery County Volunteer Center’s website at: https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/volunteercenter/volunteers/covid19.html. Finally, we offer the Upcounty Community Resources website at https://www.ucresources.org/#/ for some creative and uplifting ideas during this worrisome time to counter home isolation and boredom as well as ways to show random acts of kindness to one another. For our part, during this emergency we will continue with our service to our KFNV community through email updates, friendly phone calls, and limited grocery and pharmacy delivery services. Please reach out to our Member Coordinators at kfnvinfo@gmail.com or by voicemail at (301) 799-8104 for any of our services. In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy and remember KFNV’s motto during this health pandemic: When life gives you lemons, make lemonade; but first wash your hands!
