King Farm Neighbors Village (KFNV) would like to thank Rob Scheer, founder of Comfort Cases, for his engaging and dynamic presentation, Fixing a Shattered Foster Care System: Giving Back and Leading by Example, on September 25th. Mr. Scheer gave a thought-provoking and moving speech about his journey as a child in foster care to his triumphant transformation as the owner of a company that supports children in foster care. Mr.
Scheer’s company, Comfort Cases is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is “to inspire communities by bringing dignity and hope to youth in foster care.” Comfort Cases Pamphlet. Currently, when moving into a foster care home children are given a black plastic bag to carry their belongings in. Through Comfort Cases these stigmatizing plastic bags are replaced with backpacks filled with personal items and comfort items like pajamas, books, coloring books, journals, and toiletries. All of these items are donated, and the bags are distributed throughout the United Stated and in some foreign countries. More information about what is included in a Comfort Case can be found at https://comfortcases.org/whats-a-comfort-case/.
